Back in 1995, took one of my first Power Wood Carving Classes in Ft. Coloins, CO. In it, we made a carving of the same, pre-cut blanks. This bird carving is of Bass Wood and using Fordom Style power carving tools, pyro-wood burning tools and acrylic paints. I gave this carving to my Sister for a Christmas gift about 24 years ago, where it has been on display there at their Lake Cabin. Over the years, we would look at it, along with some of the others and wished it had been painted better. Last week end, decided to make it happen.

Here are a few shots of Mr. Blue Bird, before removing the rusty barbed wire from the fence post and using an old tooth brush to clean him up. Keep in mind, this was when first getting started on power carving and wood burning. The eyes are glass and it's feet are made of pewter. The barbed wire was found in a ditch on an old gravel road, cut, then shaped to fit.

The base was cut from a scrap piece of lumber, then roughtered the edge, stained and clear coated.

I have always treasured having it. Sorry it got so dusty at the cabin. I think I will put it in my glass cabinet at home where I can to see it and enjoy it more often and show it off to my friends. Thank you so much, Bro!

It was nice to have an opportunity to be able to improve it. Glad you like it. Unfortunately the carving is still the same and I didn't repaint the post. Oh, and it didn't have hardly any dust on it either.
