Welcome to Sawamish* Nature Journal Club Launch at the Hoodsport Timberland Library!

Supplies provided, if you forget

Nature Journaling as a practice will be introduced at this meeting, plus a technique share or two as time permits.
Group interest and input .will guide direction going forward

This is based on Nature Journaling practices developed by John Muir Laws and others sharing curriculum freely as open source to all interested seekers.
Nature journaling practice became my go-to remedy during our covid shutdown, enhancing my connection with creatures, plant and phenomena exponentially!

*Why Sawamish?
Sawamish was a name planned for Mason County before being named after George Mason (who never even lived here). Sawamish reflected a time and place when tribal and settlers were living respectfully together. Currently we are shifting from ‘Puget Sound’ to Salish Sea. Sentiments now respect naming land and waters from something as small as a man to more expansive qualities.

Tomorrows FREE Class is an excellent oportunity to get outside and sketch, as well as hone your nature skills. Special thanks to Linda, for pulling this off.

Linda's first meeting talked about, interests of participants, best times to meet, media based formats, materials needed, John Muir Laws books and classes, the name of the Club and many other aspects. Linda then offered a few loosening up excercises, using some large bones of an extinct creature, to help us get ready for more technical drawings. Wow! Two hours goes by fast. Here are a few shots.
