A couple years ago, decided to make my own Watercolor Journal, out of a block of Blick Premier 140#, Hot Pressed, 9 x 12 paper. My intent was to make my own Sketch and Paint Journal, for field use. Watched several videos on Book Binding and thought, why not try it. Took apart the Blocks 20 pages, folded them in half, perforated the bindings and stitched them together. Used Bees Wax, to encaustic seal, the front and real covers, adding a feather and a few other bits. It doesn't look all that great, but it's functional. As I finish the paintings, will post them here. Thanks for watching.

Fun to make also. The Craft of Book Binding is a whole other venture. To get good at it, takes a lot of equipment and materials. A couple years ago, there weren't many cotton paper journals for Watercolor Artists, available, but due to demand, there are several good ones out there.

That is a great job you did on building that journal! Half a century ago I studied printing and bindery but never created my own book like that. I think the hardest part of keeping a journal is 'keeping' at it. And going outside to observe. Your birds are wonderful!

What a neat way to track your progress! Great idea. I am amazed how much you have improved especially when you compare your chickadee from 2018 versus 2021! Way to go, Bro! I will never be as organized as you....

Thanks. You are way more organized than I. That's what journals are for, growth and progress. It is fun to see the improvement over the years.

What a little cutie! Well done. They were so active here a couple of weeks ago. Gathering in swarms, settling in some tree tops and then bursting into flight and doing their cool group-dance. It startled me at first when I first heard it because the noise sounded like something metallic, but it was just a the wings of a bunch of little birds. Again, love the journal. I should grab mine more often instead of just having them here, there and everywhere. Stop being so perfect, okay?!

He has a look in his eye, sleepy or maybe he's just cold. He is a great looking bird.
