Good evening everyone!


Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, and the last watercolor get together for 2020. We will meet at the Lake Kokanee shelter at 11. Last week at Lake Kokanee, my car thermometer showed a temperature of 33 degrees, and it did seem quite cold.

Tomorrow should be a little warmer. There will be a fire to warm our hands, and we will paint until 2 or . Please paint whatever you wish, but I recommend that you bring more than one sheet of paper, because the electrical outlets have been turned off for the winter and nothing dries in this damp air.


In January I propose that we continue to get together every Thursday from 11-2 at Lake Kokanee, as it provides shelter, water and an opportunity for a fire.

The dates will be January 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Jan's a brave Lady. January will be a true test of endurance, but a great chance to get together and paint. Jan mentioned yesterday, that there will be no Theme, thus FREE Classes again for January. So bring your brushes and paint along with us.

Jan. 7th Plein Air
We had a great turn out today with 8 Artists showing up. The weather was mild and quite comfortable and our Fire Person, Nancy, kept us toasty and warm. Maintenance turned on our power, so we had access to a dryer to help speed up drying time. It was a pleasure, as usual to sit with our colleges and discuss all sorts of topics and share our passion with others. Here are most of the paintings today. I was a little slow and didn't catch everyone, but here are most of our attempts.

Had I been quicker, would have caught a pic of Jan's start on a final larger painting, based on her 3 study paintings. She has a really cool idea. Looking forward to see how it progresses.

Jan 14th Plein Air
Well here you go Dee!
Today we had 6 hardy painters show up to paint. Jan started off with a COVID 19 talk about future spacing, masks and distancing alternatives. Then we hunkered down. Maintenance was good enough to turn on the power again for the dryer and we had a nice toasty fire, provided by Jan and Nancy. Thanks to all, who showed up. It was clear, but chilly at first, then warmed slightly. We had the usual diverse and different topics and sharing. Karen brought some of her homemade, Brownies and boy were they delicious!
I didn't catch Jann or Nancy's paintings for the Critique, but here are the ones caught on camera.

Jan. 21st Plein Air @ Kokanee
After we started a fire, Jan pulled us all in and showed us techniques for achieving Brush Strokes, using several brushes and styles. Then we went back to our tables and tried different effects. Here are several pics of our event. Feel free to comment or add any information. It's easy for most of us to recognize each others different styles, so if anyone wonders, just ask. Security/ Maintenance was kind enough to turn the power on, so we could dry between coats.

Jan's Email for next week:

Hi Everyone,

So far, the weather has been lucky for our Thursday get togethers at Lake Kokanee.

Next time we are meeting on January 28th, and will be sharing a potluck. Bruce is bringing dessert. Chuck will join us on the 28th with a special hot chocolate. (It is my birthday.)

In February, we will continue to meet on Thursdays, and plan to meet at Lake Kokanee from 11- 2 on February 4, 11, 18, and 25. In order to keep our COVID distance from each other, there are no lessons. However, next week I am encouraging everyone to paint without using green, which will be a challenge, as we are surrounded by a green environment.

Hope you can join us. There is space for 8-10 of us in the shelter, and more at the outside picnic tables and on the dock.
