Yesterdays Plein Air Class, conducted at the Eagle Creek Saloon area was a big success. Hopefully a few others will post there interpretation of the assignment. Ours was to construct a Composition using light and dark values. I admit, that part of it was missed, by myself, whilst taking a few photos. That being said, here is my attempt, on Aches 10 x 14 Cold Press, 140 lb. Block pad, using Daniel Smith water colors. We set up our portable tri-pods and chairs, pulled out our paper, paints, brushes and water, all along the stretch of bank, in the area allotted. My personal observation of my attempt was, that I didn't plan out my composition well and did my usual over working. There's way too much green, darks and not enough whites. If any of you see other mistakes, please let me know. Over all, we had a great time, got to see some Artists familiar, new and one, whom we haven't seen in over 2 years. Most of us want to come back again and use the beauty here, to try and create some beautiful paintings. My attempt: Lillie Pads

I like the colors a lot but the water lillies aren't the star here as they blend in a bit too much in my opinion. I do get cattails in the background which is fun!

They weren't very prominent from our view. Took a few photos with a 75-300 Zoom. Jan's Topic was mainly Landscape composition. A couple people actually painted the Water Lillies. I still want to do one of them, because of the unusual shape of their petals.
