La Push, Mora Beach. Photo taken by Ray Burkhard, last year. After doing the last couple, want to try a Seascape, with lots of clouds and waves and Driftwood. Stretched out a couple Quarter sheets of Sanders Waterford and letting them dry overnight.

A friend of mine took this photo last year on one of our beaches. I thought it was a pretty cool Stump. The main reason I want to do this one, is to try out my skills at even washes on Sky, Clouds and water.

Masked of the root area of the Driftwood with Clear Packing tape, then took a # 11 exact blade and carefully removed the area which will get the first washes. Put down a first wash of Cerulian Blue and Azo Yellow. Wet wash of a little warmer mixture for the beach area. After doing that, added a layer of Sea Salt with my grinder, to give the washed gravel some texture. Now we'll let it dry again. Working with Air, Water and earth in this simple painting makes for a few different textures. Next up will be the water.

Removed the salt crystals and put down a wash of French Ultramarine, Cobalt Teal. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and a few drops of Ox Gal, which is a Flow Improver. After that drys, will add another layer of was to the sky, with maybe a few clouds.

How did you get the packing tape off without ripping the paper Bruce?

The packing tape comes off easily. Well, not easily, because it has so many openings and usually takes a little time to make sure you get it all. Never had it tear the paper yet. Worked in all the Driftwood textures and shadows. Calling this one finished. Thanks for following along. Learned a lot from this attempt at a Seascape.

Thank you Joe. It was interesting to try out all the different textures in one painting.
